Skin Cancer Foundation Retracts Statement that LED Lamps for Gel Manicures are Safe!

Dr. Elizabeth Hale, Vice-President of the Skin Cancer Foundation, finally revised her original position on LED lamps stating they do, in fact, cure with UVA radiation. Bravo for them and all the people involved that helped make this happen. Here are the two varying opinions. ”Typically, UVR-emitting nail lamps are used to set gel manicures. Some nail lamps emit LED light, which is not dangerous.” (March 7, 2013) And the corrected version; “Some nail lamps are called “UV” nail lamps, and some are called LED lamps, but both emit UVA rays, which have been linked to both premature skin aging and skin cancer.” (September 1, 2015)
